Day 11

I am thankful that 2011 is nearly over.  I know that there were many blessings during 2011 but it has all been overshadowed by the passing of my beloved husband. The last 5 months have been difficult and heartbreaking.  I want to be 'rid of' the year and hope that 2012 will be a year of hope, renewal and healing for me.

Day 10

I am thankful for the very good friends I have and I know I've said it before but it seems like my friends do all they can to love and support me and find ways to give to me.  Today, the friend I am thankful for is Donna.  Donna is a pw whose church I used to attend about 5 or so years ago.  Ever since I've been back from the States, she has looked for ways to help me and encourage me in a practical way.  Today, she and her husband, Ron, came with me to my sister's place who lives up a hill, with a steep driveway and stairs leading up to their house.  Ron and I loaded my car and their trailer up with 2 couches, a big BBQ, a table and 6 chairs.  So, I am thankful for the practical help that Ron and Donna gave me today!!

(More about this at my "The Garden Trail" blog.)

Day 9

I am thankful that I was able to get my new printer installed without any glitches, by myself!  I printed something, scanned it in pdf format and emailed it.  It works well. Hooray!

Day 8

I am thankful for my bike.  I went for a short ride this evening (approx. 40 mins) and found out that the town I live in, is not all 'flat' and has some hilly bits in it where I have to figure out the gear changes.  It was good to go for a ride in the fresh, evening air and also good to have a small tub of strawberry yoghurt when I got back from my ride.

Day 7

I am thankful for chocolate and freshly whipped cream.  It feels decadent to eat it and is such a treat!

Day 6

I am thankful for my boots. Nathan bought them for me when he was visiting me in the States.  Today, as I was having a bad day, I wore them a reminder of my home with Dave.  I wish I could be at home with him now.

Day 5

Christmas Day.

I am so thankful that I was able to spend Christmas day with my son Nathan!  We had a lovely time together and there's lots of food left over.  I am very proud of the young man he has grown to be.  It was also great being able to Skype with Nathan to Mom and Dad Flowers.

Day 4

Today I am thankful for my friend Fiona.  Last year, before I went to the States, I lived at her place and whenever I came back, I would stay there too.  Anyway, Fiona called me this morning and came over to visit this afternoon.  We did a bit of exploring of the neighbourhood and found out that I could walk to work and back in less than 30 minutes.  Fiona and I have been friends for a long time and I am very thankful for her friendship.

Day 3

I am thankful that I can walk: uphill, downhill, quickly, slowly, at my own pace and without pain.  I can get from here to there carrying things or empty handed.  I can walk for fun, walk with a purpose, stroll or even saunter.  Although sauntering is not my style.   Today I walked to the store and it was 30 degrees outside.  (celsius)  I am thankful that my father-in-law was able to go for a walk outside today even though it was only 30 degrees (Fahrenheit).  He used his walker.  So I am thankful that I am able to walk and that Dad Flowers was able to go for a walk, too.

Day 2

There is so much to be thankful for but for today I am thankful for blue, almost cloudless skies.  Such a pretty day, so warm and full of promise for good things.

Day 1 of Photo Thankfulness

It is easy to find things to be thankful for, when the birds are singing, the skies are blue and I have internet on but I've chosen one thing to be thankful for, which might surprise those of you who know me.  I've decided to be thankful for weeds in the garden.  Being able to get my hands dirty, while pulling out the weeds and then having a pretty garden as a result, is something to be thankful for.
